Setup Raspberry Pi

The easiest setup is to use the WiggleBin Raspberry Pi image. However you can also do a custom install if needed.

1. Install Pi with WiggleBin Image:

Installing the Raspberry Pi with the WiggleBin image allows you to set up your Raspberry Pi for use with WiggleBin services, enabling efficient waste collection management. Follow these steps to install the WiggleBin image on your Raspberry Pi:

  • Step 1: Download the WiggleBin Image: Obtain the WiggleBin image provided by the WiggleBin team or download it from a trusted source.

  • Step 2: Prepare the SD Card: Insert the SD card into your computer's card reader.

  • Step 3: Use Etcher: Download and install Etcher on your computer. Etcher is a tool used for writing images to SD cards and USB drives.

  • Step 4: Write the Image to the SD Card: Open Etcher. Select the downloaded WiggleBin image file as the source. Choose the SD card as the target. Click on the "Flash" or "Write" button to write the image to the SD card.

  • Step 5: Safely Eject the SD Card: Once the image writing process is complete, safely eject the SD card from your computer's card reader.

  • Step 6: Insert the SD Card into the Raspberry Pi: Carefully insert the prepared SD card into the SD card slot on your Raspberry Pi.

  • Step 7: Power On Your Raspberry Pi: Connect the power supply to your Raspberry Pi to power it on. The Raspberry Pi will boot up using the WiggleBin image installed on the SD card.

That's it! You've successfully installed the Raspberry Pi with the WiggleBin image using Etcher. Your Raspberry Pi is now ready to be configured for use with WiggleBin services, helping you streamline your waste collection management process.

Custom install

1. Install SD Card with Default Raspberry Pi Image:

Installing the default Raspberry Pi image on an SD card is the first step in setting up your Raspberry Pi for use. Follow these steps to install the default image on your SD card:

  • Step 1: Download the Raspberry Pi OS Image: Visit the official Raspberry Pi website and download the latest version of the Raspberry Pi OS image suitable for your Raspberry Pi model.

  • Step 2: Prepare the SD Card: Insert the SD card into your computer's card reader.

  • Step 3: Use Raspberry Pi Imager: Download and install the Raspberry Pi Imager tool on your computer.

  • Step 4: Write the Image to the SD Card: Open the Raspberry Pi Imager. Select the downloaded Raspberry Pi OS image file as the operating system. Choose the SD card as the storage device. Click on the "Write" button to write the image to the SD card.

  • Step 5: Safely Eject the SD Card: Once the image writing process is complete, safely eject the SD card from your computer's card reader.

  • Step 6: Insert the SD Card into the Raspberry Pi: Carefully insert the prepared SD card into the SD card slot on your Raspberry Pi.

2. Install WiggleBin on Raspberry Pi

Installing WiggleBin on a Raspberry Pi is a straightforward process that allows you to quickly set up and configure your device for use with WiggleBin services. Follow these simple steps to get started:

  • Step 1: Prepare Your Raspberry Pi: Ensure your Raspberry Pi is powered on and connected to the internet.

  • Step 2: Access the Terminal: Open a terminal window on your Raspberry Pi. You can do this by clicking on the terminal icon in the desktop environment or by accessing it remotely via SSH.

  • Step 3: Install WiggleBin: Run the following command in the terminal to install WiggleBin:

  • pip install wiggle-settings
  • Step 4: Follow Setup Instructions: Once the installation is complete, follow the setup instructions provided by WiggleBin to configure your device and start using its features.

That's it! You've successfully installed WiggleBin on your Raspberry Pi and can now begin using it to manage your waste collection process efficiently.
